Accomplished in a wide variety of media, Alan Casagrande has been creating art for over thirty years now. A degree from the Hollywood Art Center in the early Eighties capped Alan’s formal art education. Alan honed his artistic talents as an animator and is a member of the Screen Cartoonists Union. Though Alan draws inspiration from his local Southern California environs, travel has always been his muse. What is your name and when did you start painting? Alan Casagrande interested in art as far back as I can remember... have a few pieces dating 1963. Why did you start painting? The desire to paint is something I was born with, as my dad was a fantastic artist and craftsman. What are some of your favorite moments in your career? My favorite moments are pretty much every time someone purchases a piece of mine to take home and enjoy... dosent matter how big or small just happy to have one more piece out there....times spent painting with my dad and good friends as well. What do you think is the future of your industry? The possibilities are endless... dream big. If you could, what is one thing would you do differently? Nothing much really is been a groovy ride so far.... What is some advice for young artists trying to have a career like yourself? Stay focused, try and be original, dont be thin skinned and handle critique (cant spell cryticism) paint alot, draw more....and have fun. What is the next big project you have planned? At present I'm stretchng alot of canvas prints for a new restaurant in Ventura, Amigos Surf Cantina, plan on doing alot of painting as I just returned from New Zealand and got alot of inspiration...(not that much surf) and gearing up for the upcoming tourist season down here stocking, work in shops and gallery.
